Keālia Trail through to Molukeia Viewpoint – Oahu, HI

October 18, 2023 by Scott Gregson

October 2023 early morning hike on Oahu, HI.

Great hike, but aren’t they all!

To beat the heat I started as early as I could for this one. The parking is at the little airport. The gate is not open until 0700. I was there earlier and someone had already arranged for the gate to be open for their group, I lucked out. So, at about 0630 I headed up.

One of the things I noticed about this trail was the change in the vegetation from the base up to the top. It was like layers of separate climes, one above the other.

View toward the North Shore.

I drank ~3 liters of water on this hike plus added electrolytes. If I do this hike again I will make sure to drink at least a liter more.
